The Hilo Bronco 11s only lost one game at the state PONY League tournament, a one-run defeat to Mililani that ended when Carson Kawaguchi flied out with two runners on base.
But Kawaguchi would ultimatley end up as Captain Clutch, and in more ways than one.
In a championship game rematch against Mililani, Kawaguchi pitched five solid innings, and he stroked a title-clinching RBI double to send the Bronco 11s to the West regional in California.
